Teknofest Success of Lagari Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Society

Students of the Lagari UAV society, operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ali İhsan Taş, Emirhan Kahraman, Yousef-Jalal Shawkat, Mustafa Tarık Pamuk, Enis Teper, Mustafa Mert Özçelik, Yasin Uzun, Yunus Emre Yekeler, Muhammed Erkam Şahin, Emre Çınar, and Harun Berk Işık, under the consultancy of Associate Professor Cenk Ulu, won the first prize in the fixed-wing category of the Teknofest Combatant UAV Competition as the team that was able to complete the competition task for the first time.

Machine Technologies Society YTU Racing Team's Formula Student Competition Success

Machine Technologies (MAKTEK) Society YTU Racing team operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Associate Professor Alp Tekin Ergenç, Associate Professor Orkun Özener, and Associate Professor Mehmet Selçuk Arslan, ranked 1st in the acceleration stage of the Formula Student Czech race and waved our flag on the podium. YTU Racing ranked 3rd in the endurance stage, which is the most challenging dynamic stage, and ranked 5th in the general ranking.

Success of Alternative Energy Systems Club in Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Races

Alternative Energy Systems Society, operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, won the first prize for the performance and locality categories in the hydro-mobile classification of the International Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Races organized within the scope of Teknofest. In the same competition, our team won the Promotion and Dissemination Encouragement Award in the electro-mobile category.

Alternative Energy Systems Society, operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, won the first prize in the original vehicle category of the Robotaksi Autonomous Vehicle Competition organized within the scope of Teknofest.

Alternative Energy Systems Society, operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, won the first prize in the category of locality in the International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition held within the scope of Teknofest.

Teknofest UAV Competition Success of Simulab Team of Mechatronics Engineering Department

The Simulator and Unmanned Systems Laboratory (Simulab) team of the Mechatronics Engineering Department won the second prize in the International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition held within the scope of Teknofest, under the supervision of Professor Doctor Vasfi Emre Ömürlü and Research Assistant Berkay Gürkan.

Teknofest Smart Transportation Competition Success of YTU Maglev Team of Mechatronics Engineering Department

The Mechatronics Engineering Department YTU Maglev team won the first prize in the Intelligent Transportation Competition held within the scope of Teknofest 2021, under the supervision of Associate Professor Kadir Erkan.

YTU Quality and Efficiency Society - 16th National Supply Chain Camp

In the fields of Supply Chain and Logistics, the 16th National Supply Chain Camp was held online on February 18-20, 2021 due to the pandemic. Students had the opportunity to participate in workshops, business games, and case studies with leading companies in the sector.

The 23rd National Quality Days event, attended by leading names from leading companies in the sector, was held online on 8-10 March 2021.

YTU Machinery Technologies Society held BEM Days 21’ Event on March 10-11-12, 2021. The event, in which the subject of "Future" is discussed from various aspects, and which brings our students together with experts from big companies and initiatives that have made an impact in our country and in the world, was organized online and with certificates.

Machinery Technologies Society 9th Defense Industry Days

YTU Machinery Technologies Society held the 9th Defense Industry Days event on May 17-18, 2021. In our event, many subjects such as reducing foreign dependency in the national defense industry, developing original domestic systems and creating a competitive national defense industry integrated with the international market through R&D studies were discussed.

SPARK Society TedxYildizTechnical University Events

SPARK society TedxYildizTechnicalUniversity team repeated the TEDxYildizTechnicalUniversity event, which it has been organizing since 2018, on July 3, 2021 with the theme of "The Mask". What is meant by the theme of “The Mask” is not only concrete masks; at the same time where there are hidden, ignored and masked facts, was held at Davutpaşa Congress and Culture Center.

The Wind Energy Society held the 9th Wind Days which brought our students together with experts in their fields, was held online and certified.

Prof. Ahmet Koyun, a member of the faculty of Mechatronics Engineering, becomes a gold medalist in ISIF’21 Invention Contest with his patented invention “Plasma Gasification Reactor and Method”.

The project application “Research and Manufacturing Center for Titanium Medical Implant with Additive Manufacturing” coordinated by Prof. Mihrigül Altan, a member of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is entitled to be supported with the funds provided by the Innovative İstanbul Financial Support Program of İstanbul Development Agency.

TÜBİTAK 2209-B “Research Project Support Programme for Undergraduate Students” funded 6 projects in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and 1 project in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering.

Prof. İbrahim Dinçer and Prof. Ahmet Selim Dalkılıç, the faculty members of Mechanical Engineering, are ranked at the top 10 professors under the criterion of “Research Capacity & Quality, Interaction and Cooperation” as the faculty members with the highest number of publications in 2021.

Achievement of Our Faculty Member

Prof. E. Hakan Kaleli, a member of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is awarded the prize “Best Innovative Paper Award” in the “International Conference on Technological Innovations in Mechanical Engineering (TIME-2021)” with his paper “Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Engine Cylinder Honing as Tribological Aspect on Performance, Wear and Lubrication.”
