SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

The aim of this topic is to deliver innovative technologies and solutions which reduce the environmental and climate footprint of RIs through the full life cycle of research infrastructures. Proposals should identify common methodologies, among the concerned RIs, to assess environmental impact as well as efficiency gains in the broader ecosystem. 

Proposals should address the following aspects: 

• validation and prototyping,
• training of RI staff for the operation and use of the new solutions,
• action plans to deploy the new developments at wider scale and ensure their sustainability, 
• measures to ensure an environmentally effective integration of the solutions in the local contexts, 
• societal engagement to foster acceptance of the solutions in the local and regional communities. 

Expected impact

• reduction of environmental (including climate-related) impacts, 
• optimisation of resource and energy consumption integrated through the full life cycle of research infrastructures, 
• increased long-term sustainability of European research infrastructures. 

ELIGIBILITY & ADMISSIBILITY CRITERIA

Any legal entity, regardless of its place of establishment, including legal entities from nonassociated third countries or international organisations (including international European research organisations) is eligible to participate (whether it is eligible for funding or not), provided that the conditions laid down in the Horizon Europe Regulation have been met, along with any other conditions laid down in the specific call topic. 

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in one of the following countries:

• The Member States of the European Union, including their outermost regions, 
• Countries associated to Horizon Europe: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Iceland, Israel, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine. 
• Low- and middle-income countries 

Language Criteria: 

Applicants can submit their application in any official EU language. However, for reasons of efficiency, it is strongly advised to use English. If applicants need the call documentation in another official EU language, they must submit a request within 10 days after publication of the call.  

FUNDING & RESOURCE ALLOCATION

Total budget for this destination is EUR 25.000.000.

TIMETABLE
